About

The University Club is open to all faculty, staff, administrative professionals, civil service staff and annuitants. We provide an informal, comfortable and friendly environment in the Bone Student Center in the Faculty/Staff Commons where we gather on a biweekly basis to socialize and meet old friends and new colleagues. During our Discussion Hours we hear short presentations that focus on the University, the local town community and national issues of prominence as analyzed by local experts. Our Discussion Hours are held during Fall and Spring semesters of the academic year every other Friday from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. with the exception of academic holidays. We provide complimentary hors d'oeuvres and soft drinks.

At 4:30 p.m. the guest speakers give a brief thirty to fourty minute presentation. This is always followed by an opportunity to ask questions and informal discussion. Some of our past meetings included presentations by the President and Provost of ISU, talks by local small businessmen and town officials, updates on the recent activities of ISU Colleges and their programs, musical performances and research presentations by prominent ISU faculty members.

The University Club also serves the University by providing five to ten student $500 scholarships every year through independent donations from our members. We celebrate and reward the accomplishments of our students who have not only achieved academically at the highest level and but also have been engaged in service to the University and the local community.

Complimentary free membership in the University Club is provided to ALL NEW ISU faculty, staff and administrative professionals. Major programming and facilities support for U-Club is provided by generous contributions from the Provost's Office and the President's Office. We also ask regular attendees consider voluntary membership ($20 per year) which helps support the U-Club program fund and to consider donations to the U-Club scholarship fund through the ISU Foundation.

University Club is a great way to meet members of the University community and provides an opportunity socialize with your colleagues to learn more about Illinois State and the local community. Please come and meet your colleagues from across campus. Answers to questions can be obtained at the meetings or by contacting the President, Bob Preston, at rlpresto@IllinoisState.edu.
